What Information Is Required When Applying For Classic Car Insurance?

Having made the decision to purchase a classic car you will want to get a number of classic car insurance quotes to compare the premiums and the levels of cover of the companies involved. When it comes to getting a quote it is always better to be prepared as you will need to provide quite a bit of information.

So, what sorts of questions will you be asked by the insurance company?

a classic car insurance company will require quite a bit of information from you to provide a quote

When insuring a classic car you will need to provide the insurance company with quite a bit of information

Well, obviously, they will require your personal details such as name, address, date of birth, contact details etc.

They will want to know information about the classic car that you are considering purchasing. For instance, the make and model, the number of miles it has done, has it had any modifications, are there any security features such as alarm, tracking device or engine immobiliser and its value for Agreed Value purposes.

They will want to know what level of insurance you wish to apply for such as third party, third party fire and theft, fully comprehensive or laid-up cover.

You will need to tell them how many miles you intend to travel in your classic car on an annual basis.

They will ask you where the car will be kept overnight. Do bear in mind that if you are able to keep the vehicle locked in a garage overnight it is quite likely that the premium will be lower than if you left it on the street outside your house.

They will want to know about your driving history i.e. how long you have been driving, details of any claims usually in the last 5 years and details of any motoring convictions/penalty points on your driving license.

There are often optional extras available with classic car insurance such as legal expenses cover and breakdown cover so you may wish to look at the cost of incorporating these in the policy.

So, as you can see, there is quite a bit of information required but we are sure that you will agree, nothing too onerous.
