Aston Martin Goes For Over £10 Million

At Bonhams The Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale that took place on 13th July 2018 a 1961 Aston Martin ‘MP209’ DB4GT Zagato Grand Touring Two-Seat Coupe was sold for £10, 081,500 million that included the premium. The classic sports car has quite a history and that is probably one of the reasons why it went for so much money.

You may well have heard of the racing driver Jim Clark who was a world champion in Formula 1 cars. Well, he actually drove the Aston Martin in 1961 and 1962.

Apparently, this was one of only three of this specific model of car built so it is extremely rare. It has been in the same ownership for 47 years so that is a very long time.

There were a number of other interesting sales of classic cars such as a 1932-34 Alfa Romeo Tipo B Grand Prix Monoposto that achieved a sale price of £ 4,593,500 including premium.

A 1957 BMW 507 Roadster with Hardtop was sold for £3,809,500 including premium. The late John Surtees CBE the famous racing driver who was world champion both in Formula 1 racing cars as well as motorcycles had owned the car for around 70 years and it was sold by his estate.

If you are a fan of classic Ferraris, you may be interested to read that a 1964 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 ‘Series 1’ Coupé achieved a sale price of £ 158,300 including premium and a well-known, highly desirable 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Coupé went for £ 583,900 including premium.

Those of you that are Bugatti enthusiasts will find it of interest to read that a 1928 Bugatti Type 40 Grand Sport achieved a sale price of £ 326,300 including premium.

If you are into luxury cars then you will be interested to hear that a 1931 Bentley 4½-Litre Supercharged Tourer was sold for £ 2,017,500 including premium.

James Bond film enthusiasts will like to hear about an Aston Martin DB5 Sports Saloon that featured in Goldeneye. It was sold for £1,961,500 including premium.

Hopefully, the new owners of the above vehicles will have arranged suitable classic car insurance to provide them with complete peace of mind in the event of their new purchase being stolen or damaged in a road traffic accident. Presumably, the cost of insuring vehicles of such value and prestige will have been significant.
