Alfa Romeo are renowned for producing elegant cars but who would have thought that one could possibly be sold for as much as $20 million at a forthcoming auction. Well, that is possibly what might happen when a classic 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Touring Spider comes up for sale at RM Sotheby’s auction in Monterey in California later this month.

A number of exquisite classic cars has been built by Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo has designed and built some wonderful classic cars.

Apparently, only 32 of these delightful classic cars were ever produced and is believed to be one of only 12 still in existence meaning that it is an extremely rare vehicle. It is believed that RM Sotheby’s are the first company that has had the pleasure of trying to sell such a car this century.

The classic car has an 8 cylinder engine that produces 180 bhp that is capable of taking the car to a top speed of 110 mph. Those were impressive figures for a car manufactured back in the 1930’s.

When you consider that the original asking price for this wonderful car when it was built back in 1939 was £1,150 it has certainly proved to be a fantastic investment from a financial point of view.

There are a number of other interesting classic cars being put up for sale at the above auction including a 1908 American Underslung 50 HP Roadster that has an estimated price of between $1,400,000 to $1,750,000, a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione “Tour de France” with an estimate of between $7 million to $9 million, a 1926 Miller Locomobile Junior 8 Special with an estimate of between $750,000 to $1,000,000 and a 1926 Bentley 3-4.5 Litre Tourer in the style of Vanden Plas with an estimate of between $600,000 to $750,000.
