If you are a classic car enthusiast then you may be interested to read that an Alfa Romeo has recently been sold at auction for a world record price. The auction took place online on the carandclassic.co.uk website.

A 1971 Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1300 was sold for £50,000 in December 2020 after much interest from potential buyers. It was offered for sale with no reserve.

When originally built, this classic car was shipped to Australia where it had spent much of its life before being transported to the UK.

It had its engine changed at some point to a much more powerful 1,750cc twin-cam unit. It has over 60,000 miles on the clock.

At one point the car was owned by a university professor in Australia who used it on a daily basis. It was then sold to someone who had a very full restoration of the vehicle carried out. No stone was left unturned during the restoration work with every part of the vehicle that needed attention being dealt with.

Apparently this classic car is in impeccable order throughout. The engine has been completely rebuilt. It has new brakes. It also has a new clutch. The exterior is said to not have any scratches or dents. The paintwork is excellent. The interior is said to be exquisite – almost as good as new.

It really does sound like the new owner has purchased a classic car to be proud of. It is to be hoped that it is to be taken out on the roads when it will no doubt catch the eyes of many an admiring passer by.
