Occasionally, we do hear of classic cars being found in a barn somewhere here in the UK. Such vehicles often command a high price at auction.
Well, you may find it of interest to read that Humbert & Ellis Ltd that is based in Northamptonshire had an auction that closed on the 18th May 2026 and a number of vehicles were sold that had been found in a barn.
One of the classic vehicles in question was a 1934 Crossley Streamline car. It sold for £62,000. It had been hidden in a barn for 40 years. Apparently, the car in question is said to be highly rare with only two such vehicles still said to be in existence today. A mere 25 of these cars were built. It is interesting to note that bids started at only £500. There were in excess of 100 bids from people overseas so there was obviously a great deal of interest in the classic car.
There were 6 other vehicles found in the barn with a 1925 Alcyon Cyclecar fetching £19,780 at the auction. It was manufactured in Franc by a company that was established in 1902. It has a 496cc engine. It has 2 seats. It is said to be a rare vehicle.
A 1935 Crossley 2L Sports Saloon achieved a sale price of £10,580. It has a 1991cc engine. It is said to produce 61 bhp and is said to have a top speed of 75 to 80 mph that we are sure you will agree would have made it a nippy vehicle in its heyday. It is also said to be rare as only around 25 of these vehicles were manufactured. A mere 3 of these cars are believed to be still around today. This classic car is ripe for restoration.
You can find details of the other cars discovered in the barn on the website of the above company.
