Motorists will be pleased to read that the average cost of insuring a family hatchback has reduced according to the car insurance price index published by a well-known price comparison website – Confused.com.
Whilst the above index relates to normal cars it is to be hoped that average classic car insurance premiums have also dropped. After all, there are an awful lot of people in the UK who are struggling to make ends meet financially.
As at the 31st May 2025, premiums averaged £757 per annum for fully comprehensive cover. As at the end of February 2025 premiums averaged £777 per annum so that is a drop of £20 per annum. At the end of 2023 premiums averaged £995 per annum. At the end of September 2024 premiums averaged £861 per annum. At the end of December 2024 premiums averaged £834 per annum. So it is great to see such reductions and let us hope that this pattern continues in the coming months.
You may be aware that there are numerous factors that have a bearing upon how much you pay to insure your motor vehicle. One of those is where you live. For instance, the most expensive region in the UK to insure a car is in Inner London with premiums averaging £1,185 per annum. The cheapest region is the South West with premiums averaging £515 per annum – that is less than half motorists pay on average in Inner London.
It continues to be the young driver who, on average, pays the most to insure a car with an 18 year old paying an average of £2,329 per annum whereas a 46 year old pays an average of £688 per annum.
Whether you are insuring your first classic car or have been driving such a vehicle for many years and your existing cover is shortly coming up for renewal why not get in touch with us to obtain a no-obligation quote. We look forward to hearing from you.
