For instance, a red 1958 Austin Healey Mk1 Sprite achieved a sale price of £11,220. The car had only had a couple of owners. It had a 948 cc engine producing 43 bhp enabling the vehicle to get from 0 to 60mph in 20.5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of just short of 83 mph.

How about a light blue 1971 Bristol 411 S2 that sold for £28,600 with a mileage of 99,000. The present owner has had the car since 1988 when it had done about 85,000 miles so, as you can see, it has not been driven too far since then. In fact it has been stored in a garage since late 1999.

A silver 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 was sold for £36,300 with only 48,000 miles on the clock. The car came over from Canada. It has a 5.3 litre V12 engine that produces 272 bhp and is capable of getting from 0 to 60 mph in under 7 seconds making it a very nippy classic sports car.

A Morgan sports car is a desirable vehicle. A green 1981 Morgan 4/4 with 43,826 miles on the clock achieved a sale price of £11,660. It has a Ford F/flow 1600cc engine and is in need of some restoration work. It has been garaged for about 20 years.

A blue 1924 Riley 11/40 Sports Tourer (Blue Belle) sold for £28,500. During its lifetime it has spent around 40 years in a garage. It has been beautifully restored at a cost of over £80,000 with many working parts rebuilt. It really does look stunning with its soft-top.

Let us hope that those classic car enthusiasts who have purchased the above vehicles and any other classic cars on the day have arranged suitable classic car insurance to fully protect their new purchases.
