Classic car enthusiasts are once again looking forward to the classic motor show scheduled to take place on the 2 and 3 June at Clickimin Leisure Complex on the Shetland Isles

Graham Johnston, who is one of the organisers, commented that the show now had a national reputation as being an outstanding regional show attracting over 220 exhibits from numerous parts of the UK covering one hundred years of nostalgic motoring.

There are some local exhibitors making their first appearance this year including vehicles such as a bulk powder tanker trailer that first came to the Shetlands as a brand new vehicle in 1978 but has recently been restored and a Bedford OY dating back to the war.

In the light commercial sector there will be the usual Reliant, Austin and Morris and on the heavy side ERF, Austin, Morris, AEC, Guy and from Staffordshire a Leyland Leopard bus. .

Classic cars will include sports cars such as the Stag, Roadster, Spitfire, Triumph TR4 to 6 and the Swallow Doretti. There will be numerous Austin Healeys present from the 100 four cylinders to the 3,000 six cylinders.

As always, tractors will be featured such as David Brown, Massey-Ferguson, Grey Fergies, Fordson, Ford Ferguson from the war period and several versions of Iron Horse.

Numerous MG’s including MG Midgets and a couple of pre-war ones.

Ford, that was particularly popular on the Shetlands in days gone by, has an excellent range of vehicles including Escorts, Granadas, Cortinas and two Model Ts.

A Humber Imperial owned by Brian Gifford together with a number of Sceptres plus, all the way from Holland, a Singer Vogue. There will be two Beans as well as Erik Erasmuson’s Bean from 1923 that is still being restored.

Rare classic cars include 1930 Rolls Royce 20/25, a 1951 Lea-Francis saloon, a 1929 Morris Oxford Six Coupe and a 1933 BSA three wheeler.

A number of other local exhibitors will be their for the first time showing off the likes of a Datsun Coupe, a Citroen Ami, a Sunbeam Imp Sport, a Vauxhall Viscount, a TVR Cerbera and a Vauxhall Cresta PA.

Mr Johnston said: “Visiting and local exhibitors in their hundreds will pull out all the stops to put on an exceptionally entertaining and informative show at Clickimin.”
