If you are the proud owner of a classic car then you may be interested to hear about an event that is being arranged by the Rotary Club of Bodmin. Who knows, you may be able to take part in it.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are to take place between 2nd to 5th June this year. There are no doubt going to be quite a lot of different types of events taking place over that period and possibly at other times as well.

However, the above Rotary Club is arranging a social run for the 5th June 2022 that will be made up of 70 cars covering the period 1952 to 2022. You probably don’t need a calculator to work out that is over 70 years for obvious reasons.

The above Rotary Club will be involved in choosing one car that has been registered in each of those70 years. That will mean that there will be a considerable number of classic cars taking part in what sounds like a lovely occasion and a fitting way to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Over the years, the Queen has obviously either been transported in or driven a huge variety of vehicles.

If you are thinking about taking part then you may like to have a look on the Rotary Club of Bodmin’s website where there are contact details.

Although you will need to pay a fee if accepted to have your car take part, you do get some things in return including a bacon butty and a mug to commemorate the wonderful occasion.

The cars will be following a 70 mile route from Bodmin to Penzance that will no doubt involve some delightful scenery. So, if you are going to be in the vicinity, why not try to make a point of watching some lovely classic cars go by. Let us hope that the weather is good on the day to make this special occasion even more memorable.
