You can take precautions to reduce the possibility of your classic car being stolen

Where you keep your car will have a bearing on how likely it is that it could be stolen. It will come as no surprise to read that if you leave it parked on the road outside the front of your house over-night it is much more likely to be stolen than if you had left it in your locked garage.

If you leave it on your drive then consider blocking it in with another of your cars. If you keep the car in a lock-up some distance from your home make sure that you visit it on a regular basis to ensure that the garage door locks are still secure. These regular visits should also act as a deterrent to a potential thief and, if your classic car has been stolen, it will enable you to report the matter speedily thus increasing the likelihood of it being traced.

The following suggestion may seem extreme but if you are not going to be driving the car for some time you could consider removing the wheels. Another useful option is to leave a mobile phone hidden in the car that has a GPS system as this could aid in its recovery.

Hopefully the above suggestions will reduce the possibility of your classic car being stolen and, therefore, the need to claim on your classic car insurance.
