The late Prince Rainier III of Monaco possessed a collection of over 100 classic cars during his reign that included a number of wonderful models.  He was a keen enthusiast of motorcars and, over a thirty-year period, acquired the cars and restored them. There is an excellent cross-section of various models from both America and Europe that have all played a part in shaping their era.

Prince of Monaco is to auction some of his prestiguous classic car collectionHis son, HSH Prince Albert the Prince of Monaco, who inherited the collection, is to sell a number of these vehicles at auction. This decision has been taken following a complete and thorough reorganisation of this outstanding collection.

Artcurial Motorcars is to hold this auction on the 26 July 2012 at 18.00 at the Museum Terrasses de Fontvielle in Monaco. Many of the Prince’s finest classic cars and military vehicles are included in the sale such as a 1913 Panhard X19, a 1925 Citroen Cabriolet 5HP together with Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Bentley, Dodge, Citroen, Renault and several other models.

Every car that is being auctioned is to be accompanied by Monegasque papers in the Prince of Monaco’s name. No reserve price will be placed on any of the classic cars.

One of HSH Prince Rainer’s personal favourites is a Mercedes 500 SEC that is expected to achieve a sale price of between $18,800 to $31,300 with the 1913 Panhard X19 expected to achieve between $31,300 to $43,872.

There is a public viewing from 10.00 to 19.00 on Tuesday 24 July to Thursday 26 July 2012.

This is certainly a unique chance to purchase a classic car from what is undoubtedly one of the best-known collections in the world.
