On the 21st, 22nd and 23rd May 2025 the May Classic Vehicles & Memorabilia Auction by Mathewsons took place online and we provide some of the results. Full details may be found on the auctioneer’s website.

For instance, a 1977 Ford Capri 11 S that had an estimated sale price of between £7,000 to £8,000 actually sold f0r £13,100 – significantly more than expected. It had 88,000 miles on the clock and was said to be one of only 15 on the DVLA register.

A 1935 Rover with an estimated sale price of between £6,000 to £8,000 actually sold for £12,100 – again significantly more than was expected. It had 56,000 miles on the clock making it very low mileage for the age of the vehicle.

A 1981 Porsche 911 had an estimated sale price of between £20,000 to £22,000 but was sold for a much larger sum of £30,250.

Something a little different was a soft-top 1979 Land Rover that had an estimated sale price of between £3,500 to £4,500 but was actually sold for much more – a figure of £8,200. It had 62,824 miles on the clock.

Jaguar car enthusiasts may find it of interest to read that a 1967 Jaguar 3.4/340 that had an estimated sale price of between £11,000 to £13,000 actually achieved a sale price of £14,400. The car had 88,723 miles on the clock.

A 1981 Lancia Beta 2000 had an estimated sale price of between £19,000 to £24,000 but sold for a vastly increased sum of £39,000. This classic sports car had a very low mileage of only 26,075 miles.
