A lot of people are of the opinion that it costs an awful lot of money to buy a classic car. Yes, there are many such vehicles that sell for hundreds of thousands of pounds but there are many that can be bought for under say £10,000. If you take a look at some of the prices people were paying at Brightwells auction between 21st and 25th June 2025 you will see what we mean.

For instance, a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 was sold for £7,282 including buyer’s premium. This is a delightful looking purple classic car with a mere 34,212 miles on the clock making it an extremely low mileage for its age. It has even been restored and its last owner had it for 14 years.

How about a vehicle that is quite a bit older than the above one – a 1933 Riley 9 Monaco Plus Ultra. It was sold for £8,457 including buyer’s premium. Its previous family owners had it for 28 years. In the 1980s it was restored. It has a 1,087cc engine. It had been used at events. It has a soft top so would be ideal being driven around on a hot summer’s day with the roof down.

A 1971 Morris Minor Traveller was sold for £2,800 including buyer’s premium. It has a 998cc engine. It had 5 previous owners. It has had some recent mechanical work carried out on it. It was used by the previous owner on a regular basis. It is painted in matt black.

A 1965 Land Rover Series 11a 88 was sold at the auction for £6,720 including buyer’s premium. It has a 2,286cc engine. It has a soft top. Its previous owner had it for 15 years. It is said to have been well looked after.

So, if you are considering buying a classic vehicle, you can see that you don’t have to be a wealthy person to do so.
