If you are a classic car enthusiast and are keen on doing your bit to help protect the environment by lowering greenhouse emissions of gas then you may be interested to read that Coryton that is a fuel specialist has developed sustainable petrol for classic vehicles and it is being marketed by SUSTAIN Classic. It went on sale yesterday for the very first time to members of the public in the UK.

Second generation biofuel is utilized with this being made from such things as straw and certain crops.

Initially it can be obtained from Motor Spirit at Bicester Heritage although further stockists are expected to come on board in the next few months.

There are presently 3 versions of this type of fuel available – Super 33, Racing 50 and Super 80.

Super 33 has been made using 33% of sustainable content. In excess of a 25% saving in GHG is achieved when compared with fossil fuels. It costs from £3.80 per litre.

Racing 50 has been manufactured using 50% renewable content. In excess of 35% saving in GHG is achieved when compared with fossil fuels. It is designed for racing and performance vehicles. It costs from £5.24 per litre.

Super 80 has been made using 80% of renewable content. In excess of 65% saving in GHG is achieved when compared with fossil fuels. This version costs from £4.65 per litre.

It will be interesting to see just how many classic vehicle owners decide to utilize this fuel noting how much it is to cost. The price is significantly more than normal E10 petrol that you can purchase at petrol stations around the UK.
